Bagging?

Should managers be bagging? They never have enough courtesy clerks anyways, but I was checking on 15 item lane. I feel I can handle that small amount of groceries on my own. I am allowed to tell them I can handle it?

managers can bag and district wants them to bag rather than run a register if things are busy.  for the love of God if they want to bag for you let them bag and be thankful they'll help at all

as an aside, if they're bagging there's no audit trail but if they're on a register it can be seen, and is tracked, how many hours they were on a lane doing work that should be for an hourly employee.

Our managers help bag all the time. If you're short on baggers then they just help to get customers through faster.

Funny because I was initially hired as a CC but was promoted to front end clerk because I worked in another dept for 6 months before being taken out. Have only done CC work for 4 months and today we were so overstaffed with baggers they sent me to nutrition where they only have 1 worker in a 6 worker dept (our nutrition dept is huge) because I was the only bagger that is still coded to do clerk work. I will never work nutrition again.

Managers *should* be making sure the store is staffed. But since baggers are notorious for calling out and hiding, I think it's okay if management bags once in a while.
