I work in the deli (non-management) and I earn top pay, which is $13.65. I saw a job posting for "Level IV Toy Department Lead" at my store. I didn't even know that there was such a thing because I've never seen it on the list of department managers. I'm debating whether or not to apply for it. Does anybody know if that job would be considered a management position with higher pay? Or would I be earning the same as I am right now?
I'm sure this would be dependent on your division, union contract, etc.
Typically, a "lead" isn't really a department head, or a "manager" in other vernacular... Just a person "in charge" of a sub-department of a larger whole.
Sorta how Floral is part of Produce. We have a floral lead, but I have no idea what kind of pay premium she gets. She's been in the store for so long, her full time status and top pay probably capped higher than whatever the actual pay is.
Same with Cheese Shoppe. It's part of Deli, but there's a lead for that too... but that's a whole other ball of wax.
All leads in the SW division are supposed to get 50 cents more than what they are currently making but as someone already mentioned it depends on your area's union contract
