Taking Personal Days then Quitting?

Ive been with Kroger for over a year and a half, and I am finishing up my junior year of college. (Well, trying to, Kroger is making it difficult to get good grades and pass).

I have a week of vacation and 2 personal days left...since the summer is starting, would it be frowned upon for me to work through the summer, then take my vacation and personal days once the semester starts again, then quit once those are gone? That way I get paid for them.

I've tried working at Kroger and studying to get good grades, but seriously, it is almost impossible. Working 8 hours a day on the weekends, (2 to 10), basically takes up the entire day, leaving zero time to study and sleep. And I need to study... Calculus 2 and 3, Linear Algebra, Chemistry, Computer Architecture, Data Communication, Software Engineering... those take some serious work. And the measly pay at Kroger isn't worth not doing my best in school.

So if I take those vacation and personal days then quit, will Kroger be mad at me/give me a bad reference for any future jobs?

Really depends on your management. If you think you're in good with them, then explain your situation honestly now so there will be no last minute surprises and I'm sure they won't have a problem with it.

if you leave on good terms then they have to give them to you

Acceptable practice. Just tell them way in advance and work your hardest while you finish your time there. Make it an amiable parting.

in many contracts there's a date certain you must have your vacation time in. definitely give them a heads up.

Yeah, many/most/all contracts require them to pay these out to you if you quit anyways.

My vacation is actually next week, so all I have left to worry about are those 2 personal days.

Are the 2 personal days even paid days? I'm in the Atlanta Division.

What? Of course they're paid days lol otherwise they'd be called requested days off.

Doesn't matter; things work the same in all the districts in each division, at least as far as this topic is concerned.
