Quitting

I hate working in the deli. I emailed my hiring manager about switching departments but she never responded. I feel like quitting without a two weeks notice :/ I also feel like calling out again since they denied my request for Fridays off. My store is very ****ty. I don't wanna seem unprofessional but..disbelief  I work hard & even though I'm new to working in the deli I do my best & it shows. sorry for the little rant >_<

Go ahead and write up a two week notice now.  Tell them you can't work Fridays and take the next two Fridays off.  Find a better job- at Kroger is always gets worse, not better.

Go to your store manager or co managers. Your hiring manager cant really do much about it. Or even try the leads of each department and ask if they need help. Deli is one of the worst in the store. Produce, front end, floral and drug gm seem the easiest. (im front end)

Hi,

I'm a manager at Kroger and I think it would be beneficial for you to talk to your perishable co manager.  They have control over your schedule.  Friday's are a very busy day and it goes by seniority so it's a difficult day to request off.  If I had to guess I would say that your deli is likely short handed.  That's why you were placed there and that's why they aren't moving you.  You could ask if they could train you in bakery if you don't like the deli.

I understand that they'll throw new hires in where they are the most understaffed, as this has happened to me (was put in deli).  But honestly, everyone who has worked in Kroger, now, or in the past, knows how crappy the deli can be.  It's no wonder why they're understaffed.  There's a lot that goes on back there that proves to be too much for a new hire.  I think there should be a little more incentive to retain deli workers.  As it stands right now, they're working too hard for what little pay they get.

I have to agree with Anon.

Kroger is getting worse. Every single week it felt like. I recently left and I feel so much better.

If you are unhappy, write up your two week notice and take the day off you need. Please call in though so they can at least have two hours of panic mode to try and find a helper.
