Training new guys...

We have this new guy Who had some training before starting work as a courtesy. Well, as per usual they volunteere me to train him being as I was a courtesy once. I have nothing against this guy but ehy can't they train him at a training store in addition to computer training? It's not that hard. I have my own work to to and don't want to get behind. Why do they ALWAYS volunteer me (Whenever we have a new guy they take ME off Nightcrew to train them. Is there anything I can do? Last time I asked about it, our store manager asked "if I like my job" I mean seriously???  Was that a warning/threat?

Why can't they get someone who works the same shift as him to show him the ropes? There is no reason why management should be shifting you around just to train some new kid.

They probably did it because you've been there long enough to know what you're doing and since everyone else has less than a year experience they don't want to risk any bad behaviors falling on the newbie.

They probably did it because in their opinion you have the most experience as a courtesy. Yes, they understand you have work to do. And they could have probably trained him at another store before sending him over, buuut... They didn't. Training programs do change you know. It's more cost efficient to have someone from the store to train them in which they will be working. Preferably someone who worked that dept.and it's how you ask the question. If you came at your manager irritated, then yes, that's why he/she asked you this. Even though it was a bit harsh.

my suggestion: do as your told, and train the guy. Yes, they can volunteet you to train new courtesies. No, there isn't anything you can do about it. So just do your job, train the guy, and then go back to your original duties. As you've said, "it's not that hard."

What in the world is a training store? Is it a regular store where they send new people or is it like a fake store?

Shouldn't they train people in the store they're going to be actually working in? Each store is different.

Well in my division when you get hired, you got to the District Headquarters which is usually located at the store with the highest amount of sales, or some are just designated a training store because they have a big room up stairs. When i got trained for CC position they paired us up with a CC from that store for 1 hour.

Tell them don't put the eggs and bread on the bottom, then introduce them to the other courtesy clerks and tell them to keep an eye on him and you're done!  Make the other courtesy clerks do it.
