Union Dues question
Permalink

Just had a question regarding union dues.. this might be something I should call my rep. for but I figured asking here is worth a shot.

I'm requesting the next 2 weeks off but not using any PH or vacation time. Since I'm working 0 hours do I still need to pay the union dues for the next 2 weeks? I'm only working on weekends so I wouldn't be too thrilled if I have to pay for 3 weeks worth of dues when I work next.

Thanks

Here they will deduct them from your next paycheck as you signed an agreement when entering in with the union for 1 year, or 52 weeks payment.

The dues will come out the next time you get paid. Look forward to it.

Where I am from, they will take out an extra $5 per week until it is payed off (so that would be for the next 4 weeks in your case).  In some situations (long term illness, pregnancy, etc.), you can go on a medical leave and not have to pay them.

No, you don't have to pay.  When I went on vacation last summer for 2 weeks, I didn't pay 1/2 of my car payment since I wasn't going to be using my car.  Same thing.  If you aren't using it why pay for it?  LOL!

The will take it out of your next check, it's just the way it is.  Enjoy your vacation!

If you notify my union before you take off they won't take it out.

If they just start taking out union dues automatically does that mean I am in a state where I have to pay them?
