Did everyone survive yesterday's holiday or did you get ripped to shreds by the "custormers"?

Our store was pretty dead really. Wasn't bad at all. Kind of boring to be quite honest. Now the 2nd and 3rd, those were the crazy days of the week. After 11 we still had multiple registers open trying to get everyone through.

When I left yesterday, we were having waves of people. Sometimes we'd have just the 3 registers with cashiers open, or we'd have 8 registers open and not enough baggers. We kept having to send extra people out to get carts in the down times and this was the morning crowd.

I hear it calmed down a bit afterwards.

signature store. We got DESTROYED. All registers were open and calling everyone to bag. Grocery, produce, dairy, and meat were overwhelmed and understaffed as usual. This kroger sucks at preparing.

I was off on the 4th and rather tipsy when they called to ask if I would give up my day to come in and work. I politely declined and said if be no good in my condition, and no, I didn't feel like sobering up and coming in.

Come today I got 9 flavors of hell because corporate decided to come in. The person serving the delicious flavors? Customer service manager... Lol go figure. I'm assuming she got mad because I was "drunk and foolish" on the phone.

I don't understand why corporate decides to come in when it's a holiday when they know that we'll get wrecked.

This is why Kroger should not only staff accordingly, but also, staff additional help on top of what the computer says is needed, and not just holidays either, but everyday period. This would cover call-ins (unless there are a mass number) and have extra people on hand in case it's busier than forecasted (usually is). There's always something to do; having the people there wouldn't be a "waste". Cross-train people among some departments that are easy to jump in/out of, so when you have "extra help" in one department, that help can help out in other parts of the store, assuming the department that help belongs to is in good shape. The result would be better stocked and nicer looking stores and more employees to assist and interact with customers.

Like that would ever happen though.

It was your day off and you were entitled to enjoying the holiday. Screw Kroger. Kroger screws its employees on a daily basis... so the company deserves to be given a taste of its own medicine from time to time.

Sound like they were jealous.  You didn't have to work, you got to party.  They didn't.  Everytime you are around this customer service employee you need to tell them how much fun you had lol!!!  It was the BEST 4th EVER!

Can you blame them?  Every dang magazine at the check out lanes has a picture of a white cake with blueberries and strawberries making a flag design.  Kroger ruined their 4th lol!!!
