Seriously, why? All the other days of the week in the deli we seem to have a full staff, but on Sunday, our store's busiest day in the deli...we're lucky to have 3 people for opening and they don't schedule anyone else until 2. Sometimes the assistant head of the deli is there but more often than not they're off unloading the truck or working the floor and we have 5+ people in line.
Another thing.. a lot of those times the 3rd person is a brand new hire who is just starting their first day on Sunday and they expect us to train them as they hang back and do nothing. If you're going to put in a brand new hire at least schedule 3 regular workers in there too.
Wow you would think elms and e-schedule would have more help in the deli. I'm sure it's because the head and the asst. don't want to work on a busy day. Do they say we can get this and that done on a Tuesday.
For some reason e scedule schedules light on the weekends across the board. My suggestion would be to get with your co manager that knows what they are doing (if you have one of those) and explain your issue and sit there with them while they make the schedule. Good luck. Kroger life.

Nah we don't have anyone like that. They see how badly we need people on Sunday but I guess they just don't care.
...Which was the same rate of pay that is for the rest of the week depending on contract/location. I didn't care if I worked a Sunday or not, because $8.15 is 8.15 regardless.
They actually did the opposite here though--they got as many people as they could on a Sunday (basically if you were lucky or requested it off, you worked), and come Monday (our second most busy day), it was 5 people tops. Our department was small though.
Everywhere I worked, Sundays are usually the worst days to work because too many people take that day off for religious reasons, and others just request it off because they know Sundays suck. And its busier because more customers take that day off and go out shopping.
Sundays suck most because it's when most everyone else is off and after church they get the groceries for the week. It's a combination of actually being busier, and you feeling "left out" for having to work that truly sucks the big one.
