alright, this is probably a really, really stupid question, but no one seems to be capable of answering a single simple question
tl;dr, do we get holiday pay for the 4th? i heard other workers talking about it at work that you get time and a half if you work + pay without working (the latter i would assume to be under acquired benefits, so i didn't expect that since i'm relatively new) i heard multiple people specify this so i was under the impression that we did get holiday pay. however, i checked my online pay stub today after working the day and all i get is "holiday pay reg" at my regular payrate.
i've only been at kroger for about just over 2 months but i was under the impression that you still got the time and a half holiday pay if you worked, regardless of how long you've been there? (if not thats really screwed up and i definitely would have requested the day off if i wasn't even going to get holiday pay. if this is the case i am not working any holidays again because what's the point) is it an acquired benefit like pay without working/health benefits/etc? i'm part time and have been consistently working 40 hours a week, every week, since about my third week there. i worked 8 hours on the 4th. so, do they not offer the holiday pay to part time? or what gives?
i would totally look up this information myself but, hey, as you guys could probably guess, the people at my store get jack done in the way of anything hr-related. i still haven't received ANY information on my union after being there since may. (not to mention the fact that i shouldn't even be working 40 hours. i applied for 15-20 but hr is so horrible at hiring people for my department that we're all working 40+ hours now despite only one of us being full time - our manager)
I believe it's based upon which contract you sign, which will depend on when you got hired. You might not be under the same contract as other people who get the extra pay. Your best bet if you really want to know which contract you're under and how your holiday pay will be factored would be to contact your union rep and ask them to send you a copy of it and information on the pay.
yeah, contact your union rep and get a copy of your contract, if it says you should have gotten paid take the copy up there with you and show them. Or it will likely be forgotten or pushed to the side and a hassle for you. Good luck. Welcome to the kroger life.
Pay stub terms were/are confusing for me. "Holiday Pay" refers, apparently, to hours actually worked on/around the holiday day, and "Legal Holiday" is the essentially free money, the extra I'd think of as holiday pay.
Odd.
Really, I still don't exactly understand it, but the total hours paid did come out correctly.
