Union Fees KNOW YOU RIGHTS!!!~
Permalink

I was told just like the other 8 of us in orientation that signing the Union card would deduct 8 dollars out of our pay. My Harry McDonald didn't say that this would be deducted every single week. And as far as the 2 dollars, I didn't even sign that and they are taking that out as well. Anyways, they are deducting 10 dollars a week and I found out today That I have a right to stop those deductions and so do YOU! If you no longer want those deductions taken out then get with Payroll to have them stopped. When I tried to have them stopped the union rep told me I had to wait a year but thats not true.

Fort Wayne, IN (February 2, 2015) With free legal assistance from National Right to Work Foundation staff attorneys, two Fort Wayne Kroger workers have won a settlement after filing federal charges against a local union for ignoring their right to refrain from paying union dues.

Do not let those union fee grabbing bullies take your money!

If you signed up for the union you agreed to have the fee taken out each week. I don't know what this "2 dollars" thing is so I'll stay out of that. The union contract is typically a year agreement but if IN wants to do something different then let those crazy people have at it.

He wasn't told it was every week.

Your right: them unions is real bad.  They make it to where I have to kindly slip around in order to retaliate against uppity workers I don't much cotton to.  Be easier if I could just fire their ass.

First off, not all union contracts are for one year, some unions have 2 years contracts, some have four year contracts.  I can only speak for my store, but all employees union or non union get the same rights and privileges except if you are non union they can fire you for any reason, anytime they want.  This is what a non union worker told me and she said she gets the same raises, pay rates etc.

It had to be in the contract he signed. It always says it's weekly or "with every paycheck" or similar. I can't help that they didn't TELL HIM, personally face to face, but if he signed up for the union then he signed up with a contract that he should have read more closely. =\

It's just hard for me to feel sorry for someone who doesn't read what they sign. Kroger loves people like him though. You'll sign everything blindly and give your life away. In any case I hope he'll be more happy without the union.

Sure, quit paying union dues. Don't complain when the contract stays ****ty due to the union not being able to negotiate with the company as strongly and not being able to effectively lobby for laws protecting workers because of free riders in "right-to-work" states gutting their funding

Yea stay away from a union unless they offer you something of substantial value first. Like the electricians union or the heavy machinery unions, they will get you a paid apprenticeship for a job that pays $15+ an hour and a skill that will make you always employable. As for a grocery union, they have virtually nothing to offer in long-term education/training. Top out at $15 and that's it.
