Just curious a person in the fuel center got a 3 day layoff because someone called the ethics hotline on them and told them that they were stealing time? ive been with Kroger with 8 years now and I've never heard of this?

As if there are front-end associates . . . scheduled, anyway. Why bring in a $7.45-an-hour courtesy clerk when we can just "borrow" a $16-an-hour, red-circled grocery clerk to cashier and push carts.

That, folks, is the strange, Krogrr calculus.

Well, I guess if the $16-an-hour employees don't like it they can find employment elsewhere.

Well, I suppose we all can, but how, if you're a labor-slashing Krogrr manager, does it add up to leave the $8 cashier at home while taking the one grocery clerk away from replenishing in order to be a $16 cashier/cart-pusher?

I guess Kroger thinks hey, I'm paying you $16 an hour.  You can help out up front so I can save a few dollars and not have a cashier for those hours.  When you're done, go back to your department and finish ALL your work.  If we pay you $16 an hour, we expect double the work from you than an $8 an hour employee.  Now how they work out an $8 an hour employee is they make them watch the floor, cashier, and bag.  That used to be 3 peoples job a few years ago.  Now of course management can't really do much but walk around and micro manage everyone because heck, someone has to watch over the employees and crack the whip.
