Can the store manager tell you without a union rep present that you are being move from grocery to meat department without me even agreeing to do so. I never put in a request to be moved to meat and he told me that I could not refuse I had to go to meat I didn't get a choice in the matter! Can he do this?

Are the departments all in the same union? At our store, meat department is a separate union.

This doesn't happen to be at the store near KSU, in Georgia, is it?
Only reason i ask, is after I left the meat department, 2 more people left also.
Yes they can. If they are a good store manager they will ask you, and if you don't want to, try to work around it. Back when I first started, I worked night grocery, had just gotten full time, then a walmart opened up literally across the street. This halved our business, literally. So as the least senior full timer, the store manager had to move me to dairy in the day time, and I had no say in the matter. Now, 6 years later people finally realize that walmart is crap for groceries and our business is booming again, doing more than ever.

Well our Walmart has Kroger beat on meat. Walmart produce is fresher and cheaper too.

"Cows slaughtered last night!" - Walmart's NEW Meat department slogan, I hear.
"Picked straight from the gardening section!" - Walmart's NEW Produce slogan, I hear.

Cows slaughtered LAST NIGHT?
I highly doubt that. The beef you see on shelves has typically been dead for at least 2 weeks. That's just how long it takes for the killing, cleaning, cutting, packing, shipping, times.

So, you're hearing things? Don't listen to the voices!
