I used to get paid times in a half for holidays WHICH IS NORMAL! And this past Labor Day I only got paid $1 extra.... I called the union and apparently I'm on a new contract that agreed with the settlement... I don't ever recall accepting the offer or it being brought up to me. I paid so much for the union to only take more money from me

[rant]there is nothing to like about this union in particular... first of contract meetings, if you have low seniority, pretty pointless and you can't get off anyways ( i know they can't make you work that meeting time, well maybe they can, who knows.. but anyways never no one to work on those days, so guess who has to work cause their pay is low as hell to begin with?), don't give me no crap about it's your fault you don't go to meetings, so many reasons i can give you back...  next, nice how with each contract vote things get more **** for the newer folks, but stay pretty much peachy for old timers. next, i sure would love to pick the days and times i am gonna work, but gee no seniority. and each contract gets more **** for more folks so soon being in a union will only pay (really only pays for ft long timers now anyways) if you already been there a few centuries. next, as i understand it now pt folks can't keep their spouse on their insurance, soon pt people will have no insurance themselves, so pointless again. next, what  the hell am i paying for anyways? no decent benefits, **** work times, no ft, **** on by all, and believe it or not, it's not the managers in my store that makes it miserable, it's  the long timers who think it's their right to only do what jobs they want to (don't like a part of your job? well leave on the low seniority worker when they are there, or better yet don't do it at all and just wait for them to come it and put it on their list - don't worry managers won't say much and if they do go cry to your union rep)  and on and on and on.. it's a system set for abuse, it's a class division tool, the old timers are all 'i got mines, **** you'.. worse decision i ever made, besides working for kroger, was joining the union, and getting out ain't easy.. should be as easy as it was to join, it is a money making scam that only benefits the top workers (not cause they happen to be good workers, but cause they been there a while, huh???). i really m tired of having to do tom's, dick's, harry's, jerry's, sue's, jill's, dawinka's, jermon's and whoever the hell else's job and mine too! i don't give a damn how long you been at a place, you are paid to work, and you sure getting more than me, so f@&*king work!!! yea, it's a rant.. i say all this hear cause i can't at my workplace cause it's a childish place, ad people your their seniority to get revenge if you complain to them,  or they hear you wen to a manager, etc. it's a bull$sh1t system! and yea, i am leaving, but  need a job first, ain't letting mommy & daddy pay my bills while i search. ****, i think, heck i know i could leave and come back, one dame way out of the union.. why pay for **** shifts and treatment anyways? least then the only abuse i'll have to care about will be by managers (if you happen to have sh1t ones, i don't call telling someone to do their job, them cry and go home being meaning and still having a d@mn job, jesus chirst, man..  ), after all, if a non-union member what can they do, give me crap shifts and sh1t hrs, sh1t benefits??? already get that...lol. i see no way to advance in this company from talent alone, don't matter how hard i work, no seniority and can never seem to get any as none plan on moving up, out or on anytime soon. i have seen folks get a good spot (earned it) only to have it taken time and time again over seniority. bullmuthaf@$king sh1t! ok, i feel better. carry on with your day and tell me off, won't matter.. i will never see any advantage to this union. sorry for any spelling, grammar mistakes and so on... ain't writing a professional letter or nothing. biggrin[/rant]

I think in some instances when contract negotiations are being done, the union has members on the bargaining committee who shouldn't be. They are just told to agree to certain portions of the new contract without giving it full thought on how it affects them or their coworkers. Our contract is up in Spring 2016. I just recently sent an email to the union requesting to be on the committee. I feel after 16 years, I feel I know what is best for everyone. On a side note I don't think there is good communication either when contract talks are going on. I know I have asked questions before, and have gotten a response of "they are going well" or I"ll get back with you"
