First vacation is coming up--question

Nearing 1yr with the store. Will my vacation be paid? I had one coworker say he's never heard of vacations (even for first year) being without pay, but another one said vacations are unpaid until 2yrs. No pay for a week would suck, but if I do get paid, how would they determine payment for the week since I'm part-time? Is it a set amount?

They average the number of hours you have worked for the year.  Check your contract for vacation information.

You can log into Express HR (https://ess.kroger.com/) and check to see if you have any paid vacation hours available by clicking on the About My Personal Information link on the left and scrolling down to Vacation under the Time Off Information table on that page. If you do have paid vacation hours available, you will be paid based on the "Time Available" figure. If, say, it reads something like, 24.5, then you'd be paid for 24.5 hours of work during your week of vacation.

Be aware that in order to be paid for whatever number of hours you have coming, you have to follow a procedure at your store, such as write your vacation week down in the payroll correction book, but the procedure varies from store to store, so if you have paid vacation hours coming, you need to ask your SRS/payroll associate what is the correct procedure to be paid for your vacation so that you do in fact get paid for it. If you don't know who your SRS/payroll associate is at your store, ask your department head or a member of management and then find time to meet with him/her.

I know that I looked online for my vacation hours and it wasn't updated until after I took my vacation.  It still showed the hours as available.  Sometimes it's not updated on a timely basis.  So if the hours aren't there, check with someone at your store or call HR and check.
