does anyone else just hate shopping for food after working at kroger? because i hate doing it. i will order takeout go to the gas station anywhere other than the krogers to get food. even dollar general and walmart. also i can eat chicken anymore because of the fried chicken at work. is it just me?
I always hated that. Customers keep bothering you and it's hard to shop. I've also been in the store on my day off in regular cloths and had customers stop me wanting help because they recognized me. It's hard to say I'm off work leave me alone.
I used to just hold my cell phone up to my ear while I was shopping and even that didn't help. Customers would just interrupt me. Shop at another store on your day off.
I usually shop elsewhere, but on the rare occasions that I have to shop where I work, I use the 'cell phone' trick (pretend to talk to someone) customers try to interrupt, but I continue my "conversation" as if they are not there. When I am done and say "yes?" I am almost always greeted with an angry huff and a "NEVERMIND ILL FIND IT MYSELF!!"
I take my name tag off. Doesn't help, but at least I can't be identified by name when I act like I didn't hear what they said and keep walking like no one spoke to me or say I don't know.
I don't have problems with customers, I have problems with other employees. Most people don't want to help you if you work there. Don't know where something is? Too bad, you work here so you should know that. Want a rain check? You'll have to wait because they are busy and you aren't really a customer. On the other end, some people are nice, but really annoying. I'm not a big fan of being questioned about buying whatever I am buying. My store also calls me most of the days that I am not scheduled and asks me to come in, so I usually get a "why are you here if you can't work today"?

My store does the same. They still treat me like an employee and expect me to know everything do everything when I'm in there shopping. As far as them asking why you are in there I would ignore them. It's none of their business. Or you could ask them "why are you talking to me about work when I'm off the clock?" "Why are you harassing me?" I swear, I think Kroger thinks you are supposed to clock out, go home, wash your uniform and wait by the phone for their call in case they need you."
I don't have that problem because I don't shop at Kroger, lol.
That's just crazy. You are not using your very generous employee discount on Kroger brand products. Unheard of.
I'm sure I'll regret it down the line when I find myself in a spot and I realize how saving ten percent on Kroger brand products would have saved me from such a predicament.
That is, if I wouldn't already be saving more at certain competitor stores even with the generous discount factored in. Fortunately I live in an area where Kroger has like... six competitors and half of which specialize in low prices, and so if I didn't work at a Kroger store, I'd never have a need to step into one.
I actually don't mind at all, both customers and employees don't seem to bother me. Telling someone where something is isn't that big a deal for me to make a fuss out of it.
