Processing Checks as Cashier
Permalink

Hey all so I've had my first day of in-store training, but the one thing that always threw me off is how to accept and process a transaction payed for by check. If you guys could give me the step by step instructions for that It'd be much appreciated!

Also, do not take starter checks. They will write you up if you take them. Starter checks are checks that have no name/address at the top-left corner, or sometimes it may say the word "temporary" in the background. And no, they cannot just write their information in the top-left corner.

Our store has the receipt printer that will fill out the check for the customer if they wish.  If you want the printer to print all the information type the total, hit check, then hit clear.  If you want the check just to be scanned, approved and validated then you hit enter instead.  Saves some time to have the system fill the check out.
