How to process rain check?

So I'm a new hire and one thing that tripped me up was a customer who brought over two rain checks with her order. I scanned all her items except for the ones related to the rain check. The first raincheck was for paper plates and said Buy One Get One Free. The other was for some stuffing and said the price was $0.67. I had no idea how to input the paper plates as BOGO or how to change the price of the stuffing to $0.67.

Some step by step instructions would be most appreciated!

Processing a Rain Check is simple:

Enter the price for the Rain Check Item. In your example with the stuffing you would do these steps: 67, Price Override, Scan The Stuffing, Use the Reason Code of "2", Enter.

To do a Bogo, there are a couple of ways you can do it, so refer to your PIC to see what the best practice is for your store. The first way is to simply 0-price the "free" item. Basically, just enter the price as "0" and follow the above steps like a normal rain-check ( 0, price override, scan, reason code 2). The alternative is to simply scan the item, and then do a price discount or 100-percent discount code to give it to them for free. Personally, I'd use the price-adjust option and 0-price it so that you can enter the reason code as "Rain Check". However, as I said, ask your PIC what the best option is for you guys.

Also, if you're struggling to learn these things, talk to your PIC about it. These are basic things that are going to come up A LOT during checking, so you want to make sure you understand how to do it.
