Hired , Orientation question & Uniform
Permalink

I got hired a week ago yesterday I went in to finish up my paperwork and I received my Badge # & Employee ID #.

Also, received a paper for my training but they told me they will let me know which day to go for training although they did give me the location of the training.

Also, when are they suppose to give me uniform + my actual badge. I feel like they are lacking communication, as I feel lost during this hiring, orientation, working process.

I will be working as an courtesy clerk. Any info will be appreciated thank you!

welcome to kroger... get use to confusion, **** shifts and working your job and a few in front of you in seniority's jobs.. don't bother to complain, nothing will come of it. just do your best and get out when times are good. entitlement is over, but your older coworkers are not aware of this. so user it as a stepping stone then leave, pronto.

I was as confused as you and made a post about it two months ago as well. Get used to nobody telling you anything on your first day. The only thing you will know how to do is bag and carts. The rest, they will ask you to do, and that's when you will ask them how and they will show you. You will bag, carts, every 35 minutes there is a sweep of the store that someone does, can be you if someone tells you to or you choose to do it. If trash is full, you take it out and put in new trash bags. You take wine caps to the back. You do go-backs, and when it's quiet you clean the register belts. That's pretty much everything. If you have any more questions about courtesy clerks just ask here and I'll reply :P Oh and the orientation is going to be boring. But at least you get paid for it.

Looks like I will eventually get use to it I am a fast learner.

How long was your orientation, my manager told me it will be 8 hours.

Was 8 hours for me too. You and the other new hires are going to arrive, and then you will introduce yourselves to eachother. Then you will watch powerpoints and videos for a bit. Afterwards, you will do stuff on computers. It's boring but worth it since you're at least getting paid for it. Afterwards, they will probably have you bag. You're going to feel confused and possibly uncomfortable but it's a lot easier once you're in the store you applied to and it's been a few weeks :P

Kroger sorta has crappy communication at times, but generally most management in your store will be happy to assist you with questions or issues. You should be getting your uniform before your first day of training, but if you think they forgot about it, let a head clerk know. They'll likely run and grab one for you.

A lot of people on these forums are really hostile. Don't let them get you down!

Your first is gonna be super chaotic and stressful - don't be afraid to ask for help from your cashier or other coworkers if you don't know what to do. People should be happy to help, and if they're not, you didn't want to have anything to do with them anyways.

I am really excited to work actually. I dont know if its a good idea to call the hiring manager and ask him whats going on when he told me he will give me a call to let me know which day to go to training but then I also feel like he does not know how to communicate.
