Are there any specific dates or holidays (Christmas, 4th of July, Easter, Spring Break, etc) that are blacked out for clerks? I've never been informed of these and I've seen other employees take the weeks for Christmas and Thanksgiving off so I think know but I'm not 100% sure.
As always, it varies by contract. Ours says vacations are permitted 52 weeks. However, management can limit the number of people that can go on vacation during any particular week. If it's a small department, they might allow only one person to go on vacation during a particular week regardless of whether it's a holiday week or not. Larger departments might allow two people to go during a regular week and one person to go during a holiday week. Whatever the case is, the person or persons with the highest seniority will be the ones who will be allowed to go.
Vacation scheduling is the big joke. Did you turn it in? Did they get it? If Kroger can't figure out how to use e-schedule to fill out vacation form GET RID OF IT.
