Adding hours
Permalink

i just asked my supervisor if I could come in 3 hours early. I work 3-915 and asked to come in at 12:45. He said he couldn't say yes right away becauze krogers been ****ty about people adding hours. Why? I mean I wouldn't be in over time for the day OR the week  So why won't they let me come in early?

Could be because each department has a certain amount of hours they can use, and your department may not have the hours to give u.

Well the thing is are you part time which I'm assuming you are if that's the case Kroger is trying to make sure part timers cannot get full time status. So say you have 37 hours on the clock you ask for 3 more hours well you just got 40 which they hate and play time clock games .Because you do 40 hours in 8 weeks straight your now full time .Kroger is cheap as hell and screw there employees.

eschedule is a nightmare, to get to a certain "% effectiveness" you have to have certain coverage of certain workers in each respective dept. all day each day all week.   By coming in 3 hours early- you're putting your dept at "overstaffed" for 3 hours, and then if you leave 3 hours early (because that's how much earlier you came in), your dept is then "understaffed for 3 hours, this drops your %effective FAST-  and mgmt will be all over your boss bitching about it for weeks.

So it isn't that you're getting extra hours, unless you actually come in 3 hours early- and stay to when you were scheduled to...
If that's the case, you're putting hours into your dept's budget that were not approved by mgmt, and same case-  they'll come down on your boss hard.  Even if they aren't overtime hours.
