I've been suspended until further investigation for over a month now and was wondering:
1. How long should it take until the grievance meeting finally takes place?
2. Can I draw unemployment while i'm suspended or do i have to quit or be fired to draw it? This is my first ever job so i really dont understand the unemployment process. I heard that you CAN'T draw unemployment which i think is untrue.
3. Does this basically mean i'm fired? If so why cant they just tell me so in the first place instead of doing all of this stalling?
I was suspended for not using a janky cart strap that caused me to pull a muscle in my arm which became sore. My supervisor saw and immediately called the manger down and when the manager told me to clock out, i simply put the strap to the side instead of returning it to the bagger's closet L M A O what a joke, they punish you for the smallest things ever and only paying us $8 a hr.. ha!
Call the union and ask what is going on. Ask if you should file for unemployment.
Unfortunately, "suspended until further notice" usually means you are fired. I think they suspend you like that to get you out of the building and keep everyone safe.
I saw one old timer return after a month for stealing. I saw another person return after 6 months for attendance(drinking problem) after getting treatment.
Set new goals in your life. If you are educable, get enrolled in school and started on a better career path. Put in applications at walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, Kohls, JCPenny or other retail stores in your area. Explore other businesses hiring. Maybe go work in a pizza place. These are all going to be low paying jobs unless you move into some kind of management position. Take these jobs for spending money but get educated at the same time.
Good luck.
PS. You can file for unemployment. You are definitely underemployed currently. You were fired with cause so more than likely Kroger would win and you will get nothing. Sometimes employers fight it and other times they allow it to get paid. I think some states allow you to collect unemployment even if you were fired for a good reason. Don't quote me on this.

They tried to get us to use those too and literally I separated my shoulder but didn't want to drug test so I just took some time off a week or so and came back eventually they realized no one uses that bull**** when it does work it takes too damn long and if you hurry and pull hard itll hurt you..and I'm still pretty young but still have shoulder issues so I play it smart now
