who here DOESN'T do night trucks?

Seems like night trucks are the norm, but at my store we don't do that crap!  I'd transfer out of grocery if they ever started doing that crap!  KMP sits once the store closes, we run it the next morning.  We don't even have a crew anymore really.  It's one or two guys to run the whole thing.  I should say things since we do KMP and grocery in the daytime.  I imagine there's a lot of slacking off that happens overnight.  Who watches the workers?

Actually, here all the grocery trucks and backstock gets done overnight.  Nothing would get done if it was up to the day crew.

The night manager assigns tasks.  If something doesn't get done, it is easy to find the weak link.

im a night manager. We work all trucks and backstock overnight. No way they would get done during the day. Hell they can't even refill water during the day. With the exception of our store manager no one runs anything to help out during the day.

Sounds exactly like my store.  The store manager has to tell someone to fill the water every day.

most of us would fill the water, but we've got too much on our plate as it is.  There's one person there in the morning to run the kmp truck and the grocery head/backup is there, that's it.  The truck alone is more than I can get done so water is secondary to me.  The grocery manager or backup should do that.  One of them doesn't do much of anything besides complain.  Not my fault we don't have any hours and the store looks like ****!  I could fill the water but then they'd bitch that I didn't finish the truck!  "computer says it's supposed to take 6 hours"  .....well I counted almost 500 pieces and that's 9 hours worth of work (at 55 cases per hour!) so I'm not buying the computer, it's all a hoax

yup, I get short changed by 3 hours on the kmp truck each delivery.

Example:  DDP says there are 350 cases.  ISP says there are 500 cases.  The ISP count is usually accurate.

what pisses me off is I've counted the cases (the ones I sorted and will run) and show it to the manager (with my times on it!)  but they still try to use the DDP as an excuse to get more work out of us!  I know how long it's supposed to take and how much I work so I call their bluff and tell them they can come try to run it anytime they want.  DDP is useless.  ISP can be accurate, but I still count the actual cases because DDP doesn't show mispicks.  It's crazy how many cases we get that weren't ordered!  That's extra time handling, running, checking on gun,  putting into backstock.  A misspicked item costs a person quite a bit of time!

All our trucks are night trucks with the exception of frozen which is just unloaded from the trailer and then put into the freezer but not touched until night. If it was left for day crew nothing would get done. Night crew gets everything done at my store. Day crew can't even fill ice or water bottles it is left for us to do. Hell even fuel center is too lazy to go get their ice out of the freezer they take it from the ice boxes up front.
