What is the proper recourse for this? I work as a file clerk and the grocery manager(dick guy) said to me, "How is it to be Paula's little bitch?" Paula's the main file clerk.

This normal talk in any situation, although a little crude. Anybody that is a second to someone is always referred to as someone's bitch. If you are offended by this, you first need to tell the offender that this bothers you. If it happens again, you go to the store manager. I have 42 years with the company, a male, and have always had great assignments. Sure, there were people that would say to me that I am someones's bitch. Actually, to me it's kinda funny. These people are just a little envious of you, so being someone's bitch is a good thing

lol.  Yup, it is shop talk that I have heard before.  I don't use it because I have too many sensitive underlings.  Someone said it to me the other day about someone I had helping me and I cringed.

I'm pretty sure that type of language is a fact of life in the Kroger company, and well in any company for that matter. we're all supposed to be adults and can handle it. i'm pretty sure departments talk sh*t about each other (sometimes joking, sometimes not) all the time.

That said, if you don't like it just ask them to stop.

It may be the norm to you but that doesn't mean it's right.  I don't use that kind of language and I don't allow the people in my department to use it either.  It's low class.
