how come they act like they don't know to show you how to use the hand head units at Kroger? Is there some place online I can d/l a copy of a basic manual for use? I asked another employee about this issue and was told they didn't want me taking anyone's job. That sounds stupid to me. With a union in place how could I take anyone's job? Even if I was mush more experienced in an area of work, it would not matter, just how long I been there.

What is your job position?  What department do you work in the most?  What do you need to use it for?

Are you able to log into the telxon?

If you log in and there are only two options:  Printer and Exit, then you do not have credentials to use the telxon from the store manager.  They will have to give you access to anything else.

I think most department managers get nervous about letting a noob use it because they can do a lot of damage quick if they don't understand what they are doing or don't know how to count.  Others act like they don't want newer people to know too much. Kind of like job security.

Anyone that runs stock should be taught how to use it.  It is very important to keep BOHs and Allocations accurate.  The Produce, Deli and Bakery departments are a bit complex.

If you have a specific question, I will try to teach you what you want to know.  You can learn more in this forum than you can in the store.  It is mostly practice, repetition and ask questions.

It's a gun.  I don't care how pussyfooted this country has become that we don't want to offend anyone, I'm going to call it a gun.

We all call it a gun here. I don't call it a telxon or an rf handheld, it's a gun.

Suit yourselves.

I call it a Telxon (pronounced telzon).

I own many guns and a telxon is not a gun.  From Glock17, Colt1911,  several Mac 10s, SKS, other rifles and a Colt AR15.  Next on my wishlist is a full auto UZI.  Those are guns.

In todays society, it is too dangerous to say gun in the public.  Can cause a panic or get someone shot.

We've been told to avoid calling it a "gun" and using the term "shoot it" when scanning barcodes/tags/whatnot. That's fine and we do. Of all the things possible/reasonable to complain about at Kroger, this isn't one of them, lol.

telxon gun as in RF gun. Someone made a announcement one day over the PA for someone to bring the gun to register 8. Manager came up told them not to call it a gun over the PA.
