I rolled into work this morning to see a large KMP truck that hasn't been sorted.
Start sorting it and decide to check schedule to see how much help we have today
[almost none]
Get the conditioner (who's only working a partial shift today) to come help me instead of conditioning.
Finish sorting
decide to count the cases of this monstrosity (because the DDP never gives an accurate count--typically 100 cases lower than what we actually have)
500+ [ouch!] (doesn't take too long to count once it's on carts, plus we get the ultimate #, not what the computer thinks)
Took a little over an hour to sort, leaving 7 hours on my shift
500/7= 71 cases per hour (there were actually more than 500 cases, more like 530, but I rounded it)
that 71 cases per hour could happen under the following circumstances: 1. no fatigue 2. no interruptions 3. no breaks 4. I'm on some kind of drugs
tl:dr it ain't happening.
DDP gave us 20 hours to run both the KMP and the grocery (we run both in the daytime bc I'd transfer if we ever switched to night trucks **** that)
I use all 7 of my hours, coworker uses approx 3 of his (before he leaves)
Besides my 8 hours and coworker's 4, we have the dept "leader"(8 hrs) who has other obligations, the DSD clerk (8 -but obligations) and one other employee who works 8 hours. That's it.
I didn't look to see how big the grocery truck was (18 wheels) but it looked like a good 600.
Bad thing is, our night time guy who works 8 hours will have to finish the kmp, sort grocery, and find time to run soda (probably an hour), water, displays, etc.
All this robbing peter to save paul business is getting out of hand. Instead of actually having scheduled help, we've begun relying on other people who don't typically run grocery carts.
I use the ISP number to count cases and Natures' market is just an estimate because the blue totes aren't under a different catalog.
There were 10 of us to run and condition(14 hours) store. 4 are newer. I was busy most of the night sorting and ordering and didn't get to help much until my last 2 hours. We didn't finish but did get most of it done. I need 3 more people and we should be able to handle double trucks during the holidays coming up.
maybe so but there's only 1 person scheduled to run KMP. It's not a crew. you say you had 10 people to do duties, that's more than my dept has! Typically trucks are done by 1-2 people. Anyway tell me how you get/got ****ed!

I didn't get screwed. I am lucky to have this many people on my crew. I just wish they were all upto speed on getting the work done. Half the crew is new. Most of them have no experience running double trucks.
How many kmp trucks do you get per week? You must be near a big city (Nashville, Atlanta, Louisville, Cincy?)
4 KMP trucks and 7 Grocery trucks a week. We will be dropping 1 Grocery truck eventually. No where near those areas. We are a new Marketplace. The customers are buying a lot of unusual products for this area. Combined with all the mispicks lately, we had to order both trucks extra heavy to get holes filled. I cheated a little. About 500+ cases were fast movers and endcaps. We still had to take time to sort those items from the regular stock.
Normal KMP trucks should be about 500+, Grocery about 600+ and Natures Market around 200.

We only get 3 kmp. Our tuesday night kmp truck (that we run wednesday morning) is always larger than the others because it's for senior day. Imagine your 500 piece kmp with 1 (or 1.5) people to sort and run it. Impossible is an understatement. This skeleton crew **** sucks!
The mispicks have been horrendous lately haven't they? That's costing us time at the store level because those cases have to be sorted, ran, counted, etc. Sure they probably make up for items that we WERE supposed to receive, but when you see you have too much and have to take the time to go count it and correct it, that time lost adds up quickly. Someone should go to the warehouse and find out what the problem is instead of bullying those of us at the store level.
Sup OP? I knocked out 7 carts of the grocery before I left. Bobert should have gotten the rest done. This **** is beyond old. I am tired of being beat down and **** on. I can and will Defeat these worthless Kroger Dogs. **** THEM
Completely different situation but the Kroger company is screwing over the whole department in my current store, by moving me to another store. Now granted, i'm happy for a chance at a promotion but they're leaving my current store in bad shape with only 4 (technically 3.5 with the availability one person has) to run the whole bakery department in a pretty decent sized store (not marketplace sized but at least 700k a week)
Even though i've been told not to worry about it, that it's not my problem, etc.... i am worried!! On one hand, you have a group of people who are going to be expected to work 6-7 days a week to even have coverage for the department for most of the day... and on the other hand, you're going to have me driving 40+ miles just to make more money. -_- This company doesn't realize what the heck it's doing to people.

down on your knees. See you in the mornin' butt crack o dawn.
Almost got ran down in the lot because of an ass**** driver yacking away n not paying attention. N i even tried swerving my line of carts sharply to avoid him coming up the WRONG way. ****ing idiots.
We basically just get screwed because the only people we can hire are worthless. We have maybe 4 people at night split between 2 departments that can come anywhere near production, everyone else can only throw maybe 100 cases in an 8 hour shift.
