I'll tell you as we have a coworker dealing with this and we are about to get super fed up and we wouldn't mind if he was gone. Suspended first if no call no show twice or three times, but, if you don't show up or give an explanation after suspension is up, Store Director simply says "goodbye then" and you are not indefinitely suspended, but automatically terminated and your last check is processed and sent. I watched our SD fire two people over the phone and didn't bat an eye after they told her they were wanting to quit, so she said a few words, hung up, and that was the end of the story.
If you call in too much, that is grounds for suspension / and or termination as well.
Don't mess around with management as they honestly will work with you, but, only if you work with them.

They can't fire you over the phone or anytime you're not on the clock.
Even though it's pretty unlikely, there is a chance that there is a legit illness. If it happens every week, then yeah, that needs to be addressed, and chances are if they're still in probation, they'll be gone anyways.

I thought they couldn't, but with some newer hires this might work without them even realizing it isn't policy. This happened at the store i'm at now, they had a new hire that wasn't that good and put in her two weeks notice and the store manager just told her not to bother coming back. If they knew it was wrong they could fight back i suppose. but some store managers don't care.
You will be calling in...once kroger bends you over for the 1000th time you will not give a ****. Just go find a better job now and avoid this waste of time.
