Does your store get those obnoxious demo people in your store about every 3 months or so. Selling overpriced pillows, cleaning supplies, etc. Their constant announcements every 15 minutes are ridiculous-to say nothing of the customers complaining. And most of the stuff gets returned anyway-and since it is special merchandise, we can't restock it.
During my time with Kroger, we had people come and do demos and give out samples. The worst one was a guy who came in on a Sunday, the day after the ice cream he demoed went off sale. Too make things worse he stayed on his phone and ignored people with questions and the flavors he sampled weren't even the the ones on sale the week before.
I'm sure some customers do complain - but then you have the customers that get super excited when they hear "free gift!" and make a bee line for the demo booth. I've learned it's best to get out of their way as soon as you see them coming!
Yea we have demo people. But so far we have had friendly enough people doing the demos that I have seen so far. Even let the employees sample a few things too at times. But I'm still relatively new for the time being.

Those are ordinary demo people. The demo people the OP is talking about are the ones that come with a huge display with laser lights and everything. Every 30 minutes you'll hear the following:
"Ladies and gentlemen (3 second pause) in just 2 minutes (3 second pause) we will be giving out free gifts (3 second pause) to all the adult shoppers in the store (pause) right now. (3 second pause) A representative is on their way to big display at the back of the store with the flashing laser lights. (three second pause) So you must hurry..."
They then say you have one minute and then 30 seconds to get back there and in order to get your free gift, you have to listen to some sales pitch. I haven't seen them in quite a while. Perhaps the current regime told them to go take a hike.
Oooooh, I see now. Well then yea that can get rather annoying then for sure. Hopefully we don't get any of them at the new store. But who knows, the store is so huge now they might tuck them away somewhere.
Yes. And they literally announce the countdown every ten seconds until time is up. And then they repeat this once every...15 minutes I think? No more than every 30 minutes.
I seriously think I'd rather listen to that dumb commercial all day long than that. "Microphone check, check, it's Jason Guerilla at your service!"

Just go to one of the desk don't let anyone see you. Pick up the phone and hit the page button. Put the receiver down gently walk away. Now noone will be able to page but atleast you will not hear the crazy demo person.

Or you can wait until they start to make their announcement and then cut them off with another page.
