I used to work for Kroger in Cincinnati. I was a deli clerk. Right before I left last year, I was told that I had to shave off my mustache because Kroger was starting a new policy of no facial hair in the delis because of complaints of hair in customer's food. We were told that this rule was being enforced in the delis only. We had meat clerks with full uncovered beards but that was OK. I was told that I couldn't have a mustache because it couldn't be covered with a hat or hairnet/beardnet. I didn't shave because I was leaving anyway. I was just curious if this was ever enforced and what actually happened.
Not that it was an issue as the deli in the store I was working in was full of estrogen (and the only three guys who worked there in my duration were baby-faced), hair nets were enforced, but not beard nets.
Honestly, if they're mad about a little piece of hair, they would be mad as hell about the conditions in fast food (I've seen some ****).
