I'm not in a right-to-work state and have been employed for a couple months. our steward only recently wanted me to sign paperwork. That was only a few days ago and my current pay stub shows no dues or init fees. Is there a problem or are we just not supposed to pay dues during "probation period"? I honestly don't know how the Union is to be joined I just signed my paperwork on the day of hire. But I also heard we can be let go for not joining within a certain period of time. I'm not happy with paying dues, but it's not worth losing my job.
Union dues come out weekly and it's not too much. You won't get fired for not being in a union but you will be able to get fired for any ole reason if you aren't.
