I would press charges right away.

A co-manager a while back gave me a shove (I was off thankfully) and the ONLY thing keeping me from knocking her through into the next century was the fact she was a female. And I don't hit women. (But I did get my sister to literally put a good scare into her and drive her to tears) co-manager got fired about a year later for smacking one of her employees. Both got fired actually but co-manager got a black eye and a broken nose when the employee defended herself.
