Black Friday - Time and a half pay or NOT?

Has anyone here worked on Black Friday? Does Kroger recognize it and bump up pay for working on it?

I wouldn't think they would, but the reason I ask is because I was offered to trade shifts.

I have a 10am-6pm shift lined up for next Friday (day after Thanksgiving) and I expect to be celebrating with family the night before. The coworker's shift is a 3-11 shift on Saturday. I don't normally work Saturdays, but 3-11 is more my style.

However, if I get paid more to work Black Friday, I think I'll turn my coworker down, but the flipside is that waking up early after celebrating is not the most appealing scenario either.

There is no bonus pay for Black Friday.

You are crazy to think there is.

Black Friday isn't time and half pay. Although contracts can vary by location, I highly doubt any union contract would include Black Friday as a "paid holiday".

Most people don't go to Kroger on Black Friday anyway... why would that even be a thing? lol

Market Places have clothes and toys on sale.  Some have Jewelry stores.  I thought I heard our Marketplace was opening at 5am instead of 6 am for Black Friday.

Yea, as far as I have heard(or definitely NOT heard rather), there is nothing special pay wise in regards to Black Friday or even Thanksgiving for that matter. And although I know you might not see doing a 10 to 6 as much of an advantage. But to some extent to get out during the earlier evening and still have a chance to spend with your family or friends, would be much more ideal vs. a 3 to 11. I have to work a 11 to 7 myself on Black Friday. Not all that enthused about it. But it will be one of a couple of short days I get out of a week that is mostly 2 to 10. So I say don't look a gift horse in the mouth to say the least.

Yep, we have some clothing items in our Marketplace Kroger now too. Although unless you really want to stock up on some sweaters and pjs, I don't think that any one will be getting any of the jeans unless you are super small. So yea I doubt they will be in there very much for that lol.

Kroger's "Black Friday" is more like the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.  They should call it Black Wednesday.
