Thursday, Senior Day

Hi Forum,

Just curious.........is Thursday designated as official "SENIOR DAY" at ALL Kroger Stores?   It has been for quite some time here in a store in Indiana, just wondering if that is the same as other stores???

I also was wondering why during the last few weeks our regular Thursday Senior Citizen Day  intercom "music feed" is no longer oldies.  Is this true at all Kroger stores?  Now it is just the ordinary, same ole trashy rock/pop mix just like the other days of the week.  I am starting to miss the oldies on Thursday.  (Although their music list is very tiny, with the same stale 40 songs played ad infinitum).

So why can't Kroger come up with a "new" playlist of several hundred oldies from the 1960s-1970s that they HAVE NEVER PLAYED BEFORE on Thursdays?? It would be almost refreshing to employees and maybe even a few customers on Senior Day!

In the six years I've worked for Kroger, the stores I've worked at have never had Senior Day. I'm a part of what's called Southwest Division. We used to have something called a Senior Discount which seniors could have added to their Plus Cards and no matter what day they shopped, they'd get 10% off Kroger brand products. That's been discontinued though, to an extent. Those that already have the discount applied keep it, but any senior that asks for it to be added to their card nowadays is told that Kroger no longer offers this.

Asking Kroger to expand its playlist of music is like asking Kroger to stop being so stingy with hours and pay.

In the Louisville division, Senior Day used to be the first Wednesday of the month and was 10% off your entire order.  Now, it's every Thursday, but it's only 5%.  Kroger thinks it's fooling people into thinking they're getting more of a discount by offering it every week instead of just once a month.  Five percent of anything is still just five percent whether you spend it all at once or spend a little bit each time.

Mid-Atlantic division here, our senior day is Tuesday and seniors get 5% off their bill (minus tobacco & alcohol purchases AFAIK). There's no special playlist, the songs are as random as usual.
