Alright so I've been working at Kroger for about 3 months and ever since I started working I've been going to the smokers area outside to dip and all of the sudden now my manager told me I can't dip on break anymore. I am 16 and live in Ohio where the law says you can't buy dip underage but if your parents buy it for you, you can use it and carry it. If anyone knows if I am allowed or not allowed to do this please tell me because this seems really ****ing ridiculous.
You realize that stuff makes your teeth fall out, don't you? After that comes oral cancer where they have to remove part or all of your tongue and you have to be fed through a tube because you no longer have the ability to swallow.
i really don't think they have any jurisdiction what you do with your own body. as long as you aren't using tobacco products in-store, they really can't legally do anything.

True. But it might be a gray area in the company rules.
Extreme example: Guy had med marijuana card. Legal in state. Guy was high during work. He was terminated.
More than likely, the manager cares about the op and doesn't want to see them rot their mouth out and get cancer.
The manager can decide if they want a minor using dip at work. And, prohibit the use of it while at work. HR will stand behind the manager.
True. We had a guy come in stoned off his ass. He had his card yes; however like alcohol, you can drink it, but cannot come to work drunk. It's a safety and liability thing. Same with weed. I smoke too, but ONLY on Fridays when I get off work and Sat. Sunday I don't smoke at all because of work on Monday. Even though I never show up stoned, I make it a personal rule to not smoke at all on Sunday. But that's beside the point.
Management may have concerns for OP health wise. Now that I read the responding topics more, management may have a say so if OP can dip during lunch breaks or reg breaks even in his/her car while on kroger property. Same thing with License To Carry. You can carry a gun on your person for protection, but you cannot carry at work or even leave it in your car whilst on company time. Check with your management.
In our state we do not sell any tobacco products including dip/snuff to anyone under 18 so I think the manager is in the right on this one, doesn't matter who bought it
