Probation period extended!

When I started they had me on a 30 day probation. After over 50 days of working there they told me my probation was extended. I don't understand why! I haven't missed a day, I come in when I'm called in, on days I'm not even scheduled, I'm never late, and I do my job and do it right! I don't see any reason for my probation to be extended. It makes me feel like I'm being picked on, a little bit. It makes me think they have some doubts about me.

The old standard here has always been 90 days probation.

The new standard they are rolling out is still 90 days.  But, the Department Manager or Trainer gives you a sit down Review after 30 days, 60 days and then 90 days.  The hiring manager sits down with you at 90 days. This is very new so not sure if all divisions are practicing this yet.  New employees are supposed to get advice on improvement and token gifts at each step.  If new employees are getting a "Start Fresh, New Associate Guide" Booklet, then this is the goal.

"I am not picking on you!  I am coaching you but have too much other stuff to do to take the time to do it nicely"

OK! Thanks for responding! I'm not asking anyone to be nice. I will admit, I can be a bit pushy. I do understand there's a lot to do the job keeps you busy, that's what I like about it. I was talking to another employee and when I told them I had a 90 day probation, it was said to me "UH,OH, that's not good!" Which makes me think those things. Thanks again for responding.

Wow, when did they start doing that? Heck I barely had any training done or one on one time with my trainer. Least of all doing reviews at each set of days like that. I mean in my training packet I think they mentioned it like one time at the end of the 90 days. But it soooo never happened. I can only imagine/guess it was do to us moving to a new store and them hiring so many folks for various depts. they let it go.

What IS the probation period? When I was hired 3 years ago it was 45 days

90 days, I guess it has changed. They now have a 90 day booklet you fill out (for Deli and Bakery). I've been told I'm the only one who has actually taken the time to do it. Then I'm told the book is new. Which this means that most of the people I work with never received one. I've given up on the probation period and evaluations/reviews. I haven't received one yet and it has almost been 60 days since I started. I know I'm doing a good job and to me that's all that matters now.

when i first got hired in as a cc they gave me that stupid booklet and let me say that you might as well light it on fire right now. not once did anyone ever check to see whether or not i wrote anything in that notebook (i never did) or even bothered to check if i was carrying it on me. evaluations? reviews? nope, never got a single one. it was a complete lie! my probation ended after 90 days, but all that warranted was being able to rip the stupid "hi! i'm new here!" off my name tag. yes, the best thing you can do is do a good job. a good thing about working at kroger is that if you're actually competent, you shine like a diamond in the sea of dullards who couldn't give a half chewed rat's arse about doing their job correctly. stick to it and your managers will love you and you might even get to switch to a better department. i got out of the front end 3 months ago and never looked back!
