We used to fill out a Team Stocking Guide 3 or 4 years ago. It showed where everyones' individual time went.
Then, they came out with a Department Daily Planner(DDP) that shows how long all the work should take each night. Of course, they forget to give us time for tasks that need to be done. Some of the time for those tasks were lost during the transition from TSG to the DDP. I can argue intelligently about where our time goes when my managers throw the DDP in my face and ask where our time went.
I have timed myself and others on occasion but never turn it into anyone else. It shows me how new hires are doing and whether they are improving.
I would ask the union about it. You can't be fired for under performing under my contract. As long as every department is filling one out, then it is fair. Maybe the union can point that out.
If they do start giving write-ups using that, then make sure to never sign it and grieve it immediately.
The department manager might be using it to see where he needs to improve the department as a whole. The store manager might have suggested it because there are too many hours being used.
We had them before but only the night crew had to fill them out so it was a witch hunt. should have them for the whole store if their going to do that.
It's part of a new program called The Center Store Initiative or some crap. It's basically bringing back the tsg, however, the store mgr requires us to take an acurate as possible record of each stocker's performance against the daily planner. Every morning, we turn in the paperwork and he then is required to input it in his workbench. So far, it's been a double edged sword, It's nice to know the time breakdowns of every aisle and is a great tool to help u manage better, however, the extra paperwork and hassle of keeping track makes you feel less productive and less able to focus on other areas like ad change, ordering, filling holes, etc.
