Just started working as a cashier, for a month now. How long will it be before they start training me to be working on the self checkout? Or will that never happen?
Definitely ask your CSM, they won't train you on self check unless you ask or if they really need another uscan attendant and ask you.
I don't know if they have a certain expectations of how long someone should know how to run register, before they train them on uscan. I imagine this varies between CSM's so it's possible yours will have you wait to get more register experience.
Another thing to keep in mind is generally you have to be 18 to run uscan. I'm unsure what age you are but it could be a factor as to whether or not they'll train you.
If you don't work closing shifts, it could be ages.
If you are too dumb to run it, you may never have to. It's not worth the trouble.
If you are desperate, you could get a doctor's note that says you don't have to since it gives you anxiety.
I made the mistake of working closing shifts, so I had to run it on my second day.
There is no real training. There has to be a perfect storm of too many cashiers, one of them being sufficient at SCO, and a particular need to train you (closing shifts). Otherwise, they won't do it since there is the risk of dipping.
