Unscientific but reaction-based upon surprising few comments and very little negative reaction I think new contract wins by a landslide in 2 weeks. I am not proposing this as it has many faults, just shocked how little reaction on this board. Perhaps our reading rate speed of our employees is much slower than I thought. Personally, I would be in the no vote category and move for immediate labor strike while Union renegotiates.

Oh it will pass with flying colors. It is a HUGE win for anyone who is not topped out or front end (which is the vast majority of kroger employees) and night crew folks. Our Frozen lead is going to be getting almost a $3 dollar raise with the lead increase and overnight premium.
The ones who really got ****ed over are anyone at top pay.
If you are talking about the Local 1996 contract, there are a few caveats you need to be aware of. I have read the whole thing and there are two proposals that made me decide on a "no" vote-one is the increase in the probationary period from 45 to 60 days. There is NO reason whatsoever to increase this. Most managers know probably within the first several weeks of employment if someone is not going to work out. Second, there is a provision that if you sign up for insurance in 2019 that you must get a biometric evaluation. This is a VERY slippery slope. If you don't get it then it will be an additional $15.00 a month added to your health insurance cost. Getting biometrics opens up a hornet's nest of possibilities: What if the results show you have a predisposition to certain diseases or mental illness? This could possibly be used against someone and open up the issue of the results being used to discriminate against someone. It is NONE of Kroger's business what your personal health concerns and/or issues are. Don't let them have access to it-VOTE NO on this contract. It is too invasive of our privacy in the health arena.
Probationary period here with the UFCW 75 is 60 days already. This comes with the potential for the probationary period to be extended to 90 days if management is unsure of an employee.
Front End wise a good portion of our employees don't even stay 60 days. Personally rationalized that 60 day probationary periods make sense. What would the downsides even be of lengthening the probationary period?
