I was told 6 months ago you have to work for Kroger for a year before you can be transferred, unless the other Kroger is closer and/or both store managers can agree.

The Department manager can request you into their department. Then it is up to the store manager to allow or deny the request.
I saw a guy transfer after 5 months.
If you are a minor, they generally do not allow you to transfer away from the front end unless you are very mature and have great work ethic. Work ethic is what counts most in the decision.

Maturity has very little to do with minors working in other departments than FE. Minors stay in the FE because in other departments you have to use equipment that requires you to be 18 or older.
