i recently got my job titled changed from a courtesy clerk to night crew....after 8 months of them forgetting to change it! (kroger never fails to impress, i know, but i got my back pay so it's all good)
anyway, my union dues went from $6.44 to $10.44 out of my check every week when my title was changed. are different departments subject to different union due rates? just curious
That depends. I know at my store we have two or three different unions depending on which department you're in. All of them are little better than legal protection rackets. "Nice job you have here. It would be a shame if something were to happen to it. Sign here, pay the dues, and we'll... represent you... should anything go wrong." You can't even work in my store if you don't belong to a union.
I don't know about other locals, but Locak 1996 the dues are the same for all departments, all stores. Careful with them though, Kroger has them in their pocket. Soon people under that local will have no benefits and still be paying high dues.
