Work in the deli dept and i herd and saw another deli member yell and cuss out the head deli person over being told what to do (lol). The head sent her home and then was allowed to come back with nothing? Management doesn't know what to do and the tension is thick? What can the union about it? I want to transfer but was told the store manager won't let me go. Any advice would help
The department head and store managers need to deal with the employee.
Sending them home is one step.
Refusing to do job is where the store managers and Department head can send them home.
If they yell directly at you, make a complaint to HR in the district. If a store manager doesn't correct the situation, then tell someone in HR outside of the store. I think HR will come into the store and investigate if the situation creates an unfriendly work environment.
If there is anything they can do, they don't bother. I work in the Deli also. The employees back there cuss like crazy. Tell ohers what to do and talk about everyone behind their backs. Management and Union knows this, but do nothing about it. They are short handed so they let everything slide.

I think it might be time for the Union Member to ask the Union what action they are taking! Other then representing us with Wages, Health Insurance and basic things during Contact Negotiations...what do they do?
I pay $500 to have the "Union" protection but yet....what protection do they bring me? Yes, I cant be fired on the spot...... Our last contract negotiations was extended by 9+ months and used to be renewed in October.....why did they allow it to be moved to June?
If you have a problem with an employee, you generally have to handle it yourself. Managers don't care and you'll actually annoy them with it. They want to hear that something is getting done. They don't want to hear that someone is causing trouble.
I'd probably get the union rep involved. There is also a Kroger Ethics Board you can report to as well. This they can not ignore because it gets "all" parties involved and the manager can no longer ignore it.
