They seem to think it's something you can really live off of, but I hardly think it's somewhere a person could stay 20 years (I'm thinking of people who are just now getting into the workforce). People who have been here for awhile might be ok, but those who are just starting out can easily do better in other areas of retail. They start you out at minimum wage (actually less in my division!), then you're stuck working for peanuts for years until you finally start getting decent raises. By the time these poor saps finally hit the top of the pay scale, minimum wage will catch up with them and they'll basically be making the minimum. The future doesn't look bright
My thoughts exactly! Kroger is full of lies and deception. There is no career working with Kroger. It's just a side job. They don't even offer Full time positions. It's extremely difficult to obtain a Full time position while cutting everyone's hours. Most Kroger employees are barely making enough to survive the cost of living.
I wouldn't waste my time as a clerk if I was just starting out i would try to learn as much as possible make an impression and try to get promoted to asst and dept head asap
