I think they may consider changing the person that does the scheduling for my deli/bakery. As the senior Deli back up manager has been leaving quite a few areas not covered in regards to closers or openers or even folks to work during the afternoon sometimes(especially for the bakery).
But I still say that it's pretty understandable given how much running around they having her doing all the time. It's amazing she can keep up with so much to be honest.
Depends. The backup could be training. You dont just make a schedule you have to chase ratings and other crap. If its front end your rating matters more than any other dept, you basically have to carry the stores overall schedule rating. Front end also might have fuel and all kinds of things going on. You cant just run it and forget it.

it's defintely not a matter of training. It's a matter of "they're buddies so they're up each others ass 24/7"
While one makes the schedule, the other could , i don't know, be doing something to help the already short handed crew!
one right? Well at our store, the dept head and backup will sit in there together working on it. Seems like a waste of time/hours to me.
I'm training to be the Lead. Scheduling I haven't been taught yet, but I've been told it is automatic and the Lead makes adjustments. I would think that it takes everyone in the department, because you want to make sure everyon is available for the shifts they are scheduled.
