Seems to be a question in our store

Yup, but out by me, we only have UCs (no whole cc vs uc thing) so we do both jobs.

Yes.

Per our contract, UC do everything a cc does.  Uc are not allowed to stock regular stock.  Only Promo aisle and outside tent.

As a general rule, you do whatever your store manager(The Boss) directs you to do as long as it isn't anything illegal.

Our UC'S bag when and if necessary. And by when and if necessary, it's necessary nearly ALL the time. Except holidays where we somehow manage to have adequate help. Now when coming up front when summoned, that's a different story.

But we are NOT supposed to call them off a store sweep. We do anyway and they NEVER answer. Which is why FE has ZERO patience for them.

But you do what you have to do... even if FE gets p*ssed.

I freaking hated being scheduled for utility when I was on the front end. The front end seems to forget (or simply not care) that you are only one person (and at the store I came from, there was only one person on utility scheduled at any given time; either 7:00AM-3:00PM or 3:00PM-11:00PM) and that you don't have time to be called every five frigging minutes to check, bag, get carts and so on. There are store sweeps to do. Bathrooms to clean. Trash cans to empty. A break room that needs to be scrubbed. An outside that needs to be swept. Spills to be responded to. A foyer to vacuum. The lists goes on and on. Even an eight hour shift uninterrupted doesn't give one person time to do all that needs to be done. You want to know the reason so many Kroger stores look dirty, have trash on the ground and outside the store, and just all around look nasty? It's partly because Kroger does not let the people scheduled for utility actually DO their jobs because the company is too CHEAP to adequately staff the front end.

One of the worst jobs in the freaking store... and one of the worst paying ones, too.

Amen to that!

I am a Utility clerk in my store-it burns me when a front end person says "all she does is clean the bathrooms!"
