So I've been working at Kroger for a little over a year. I was a bagger for four months, and I've been a cashier for eight months now. They've decided to make me and another guy floor supervisors. I train in a few days, and I'm kind of nervous about it. So my questions are do I get a raise? Is it even worth it? I am underage (17 and in high school), but I'll be 18 in about three months. I feel like it's kind of stupid to have an underage supervisor, but I'll take a leg up where I can. The only reason they're making me and the other guy a supervisor is because we've been there the longest and the others have quit. I don't know what to do. I have no plans on quitting Kroger for a while. I'll probably quit at some point in college. That's all I got. Please help.
Ummmm, honestly, might want to talk to Management and the Union on this as this sounds like it might blow up in your face. As for where I work, no one under the age of 18 may be in any form of position that oversees others due to federal / labor laws / company policies / union things. You may "train" with a current supervisor but you do not do anything with out them watching you like a hawk, and are to never handle an override key on your own decision as that can result on grounds for instant termination if you **** up something or "sweetheart" it. If management senses things are off, or your "trainer" doesn't feel you are a fit for it, you are just put back as a cashier. I am happy for you, but honestly tread extremely carefully. Get the union's advice or go to a member of management and ask exactly what you are expected to do and cannot do (check any kind or form of liquor is a large one, as that is federally controlled and can end up with you arrested / jailed and the store's operating license in jeopardy if you make any form of sale in any way. same with cigs / tobacco)

depending on what youre coded as, you shouldnt get a raise. You cant get alcohol for (other) minors, so your job would mainly be looking at the schedule and making sure that everyone gets their breaks, directing customers to lanes, and determing when you need perimeter help. You would open a register if needed, and make sure that if an associate doesnt show up, that you let your front end manager or a member of management know. There is more accountabilit, but that is because it is a leadership position.
