Oh, so because I couldn't spit out an answer in HALF a second, you just dismiss me like that? If you bothered to wait a FULL second, I was going to give you an answer. Have fun wasting another 5 minutes looking for someone else to ask.

Maam, we only have 57,872 different items in this Marketplace store. PLEASE allow me at least 7 seconds to process your question in my superior brain! Thank you!

[7 seconds elapse]

Maam, the Klee brand kumquat marmalade (with no high fructose corn syrup) in the green-labeled 8 ounce jar is in aisle 16, slightly more than halfway down the aisle on the right-hand side, below the apple butter, but to the left of the strawberry jam.

"Let me check that for you" always works. Other times though if the map doesn't list it, and I cannot locate it with a quick look through, I will go n lok for the nearest Grocery employee or ask the customer to accompany me while I head for an assistance phone to page for grocery.

customers don't seem to realize that the store has separate departments outside of grocery. i had a customer stop me literally as i was pushing my cart through the back doors to ask me if i had some more bars of soap in the back. i told her to just ask someone at the service desk, as there were no drug GM workers there at the time, and she was like "ohh, i'm not walking all the way up there!" sorry, but i'm not digging through a million totes to find a bar of soap, when it's 5 minutes before my shift ends.

Everyone asking questions at the same time and I don't have the answers for any of them.

We recently had a reflow that completely scrambled the store.  Many items could reasonably be on two or three different aisles.  It's tough.

If it's not on the shelf, then the customer is really only asking for an excuse to get pissy and waste our time.  We literally don't have anyone who can go check in the back.  If it's booze, we might never get back there since it's too hard to get the right keys.  At which point, 80% of the time we are out of stock.  15% of the time, it may or may not be on the far side of our Tetris nightmare of a backroom, so we don't have it.  5% of the time, we do have it AND can get to it.  That's 1 in 20.  Except, now that we are an hour in, it turns out that the customer checked out 55 minutes ago.
