"Remember, kids, buy lots of Duracells or Christmas will be ruined and your children will hate you and Santa Claus will die, and IT WILL ALL BE YOUR FAULT. Also, as Krogers shoppers, you are probably too stupid to realize that Christmas is on its way."
I utterly despise every single Christmas related spot the In Store Audio Network has run. It's worse this year than last, to the point that after two years of working at Krogers, I finally got a pair of earbuds so I could mask the profound evil that ISAN (Insane?) pumps into our ears.
Number one on my list of ugly: "The Man With the Bag". I've never heard a song more crass or more materialistic, bordering on the profane. It's worse even than "Santa Baby". Hey, Fat Old Man, your bag of goodies and high social status makes me want to **** you. Yup, there's the Christmas spirit for ya.
=== On the other hand, and as an outstanding exception, I rather militantly enjoy "Baby It's Cold Outside". It's a winter song, not a Christmas song, but more important, it's not a rape song, it's a portrayal of a perfectly natural seduction--and don't fool yourself: the girl is a full and willing partner. The original couple were married when they started performing the song at parties for their friends--they were in high demand for it.

I'm so glad that's it's always so noisy at our front end, and that the speakers are so high up (two story store), that I never hear the music that is playing.
Ask your Non-Foods Department how many shippers of Batteries they get! Its completely insane the amount of battery shippers that GO/KMA sents to stores. But Batteries are also a HIGH impulse item, think about how many times your looking for a battery and unable to find one at home. If your reminded about batteries, specially at this time of year...your buying a AAA and AA. (Batteries also have a high markup)
