Home Depot said today it will pay bonuses to hourly employees after passage of federal tax cuts last year.
All hourly workers will receive a bonus of at least $200 with more going to workers with longer tenures. Employees with at least 20 years of service will get $1,000, according to CNBC.
Home Depot is just the latest big company to announce bonuses or pay hikes after the tax cuts passed last year. A major component of the package was a large reduction in the U.S. corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent.
Walmart, Starbucks, Disney, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Boeing, AT&T and more have all announced either one-time bonuses, pay increases or both.
I will add commentary to my original post..up top..
Most likely, any money, in higher pay, that K rogers passes on to it's workers, will most likely be spent in a Kroger store or fuel station, getting a steak for the family, a case of beet for yours truly or gas for the family car, both ways Kroger wins..
You're right! Especially since union contracts have already been negotiated. Can't change what was already agreed to.
