My subject heading reflects what I was thinking today.............. Recycling of the same old stale, trite and childish "Uplift your fellow workers and customers- reflect our core values of honesty and kindness, etc" mantra has appeared at our store now. (No mention of increasing wages or benefits, or of increasing the hours alloted to the various departments that are chronically and SEVERELY UNDERSTAFFED!!!!)
Any worker who has any sense of duty and decency will ALREADY understand that he or she should be as kind and helpful as possible, simply as part of their ordinary work ethics/responsibilities. I went to kindergarten already.........I don't need another kindergarten when I am here to make a decent living and just do the best job I can.
All we need now is a special room devoted to "Feel-Good Posters", wildly-colorful crayon drawings by talented neighborhood children, free colored markers, brightly colored plastic chairs, slogans written on a big blackboard, RA RA RA KROGER video presentation DVDs placed next to a large flat-screen TV, etc.
This is especially disturbing because the corporate tax rate is being reduced 14% which will save Kroger MILLIONS of dollars in 2018. Any of these dollars being passed down to their workers? I haven't heard anything about that possibility..............have you?

RE: KROGER = KINDERGARTEN ~ or the Corporate Office Bigwigs that come up with these dumb programs sure seem to think so!
Believe me, Corporate is trying to make the right decisions to grow the business and solve a problem. The problem is changing one program effects many others, which is never looked at before the process is changed. Focus on the customer not the task? Well staffing is based on the task not the customer!
Just went through the 30min "training session" for this today and it's the exact same stuff word for word that we've been doing. Customer First, Make It Right, My/Our Promise all rolled into one for..... what purpose? If my co-managers here had a good sense of humor I'd file that 30min spent as shrink.
Kroger employees: what about pay raises and more hours? Happy employees = happy customers.
Corporate: what about pay raises and more hours? Do your jobs (and other people's jobs with a SMILE!) with the bare minimal hours given...also with a SMILE.
Waste Integration= Best Practices=Key Retailing=Standards=Winning in each Store. Its all the same. Just add/remove a few things, print up a whole bunch of signage and posters, have meetings ad nausem, and make commitments until you are blue in the face. Remember to "Have fun with it!" and to "Uplift" and "Feed the Human Spirit". It doesn't mean d*ck when they cut hours and you have call offs that can't be covered and new hires come from the bottom of the sh*t barrel and don't show up. Oh well I'm the highest paid hourly employee and guaranteed five eight hour shifts, so therefore i have no complaints(says my Operations manager for the Zone)
This "Our-Promise Facilitator" is in, at best, extreme denial.
We do a lot for each other. Whether it is a manager getting the store staffed so our associates can give it their all and be the best they can be, giving great communication, offering beneficial feedback, or recognizing the great things our associates do on a daily basis to keep their spirits up. [sic] [Bold added.]
Smashing spirits and labor metrics is more like it. Murdering morale and destroying departments through deliberate understaffing.
