New Job Code
Permalink

I recently was promoted from Grocery clerk to Assistant Grocery Manager, and have been working as that title for 2 weeks now. Kroger has not changed my job code or updated my pay yet, which is frustrating because it works out to be double pay for me. They had no problem taking away the guys pay who got demoted, but for some reason can't give me mine. No idea what to do, if anything right now

The company enjoys these non-consensual, interest-free "loans" it routinely takes from associates by withholding the proper pay rates . . . sometimes, for months.  It's free money to invest for a company that doesn't mind cheating its workers.

So much for honesty, integrity, and respect.

Your store manager has to submit the promotion for approval. Then, once it is approved, they have to submit your pay raise. Make sure they have done both of these things and don't stop bugging them until you see a raise. You should recieve back pay for the time you worked as an assistant before your raise kicked in.

In the Louisville UFCW227 contract, before you start earning your appropriate rate as a BACKUP/ASSISTANT LEAD, you must complete a series of qualifications which can take up to 1 year. But you should immediately get a 0.75 cents pay raise added to whatever you make right now whenever your HR manager gets around to submitting the proper paperwork to prove your new position to corporate.

i went through the same exact thing when i got moved from bagger to night grocery. it took them 8, count em, 8 months to change my job title. granted part of it was me not being aware of it, i should have had them change it sooner. fortunately, i had a very nice assistant manager help me out, and she got my job title changed within a day and i had my retro pay on my very next check. talk to management, and if they won't do anything, call the union. don't stand for this crap.

Was also promoted to Asst Groc Manager once upon a time and it took about a month from the time the paperwork was done for the change to be reflected in ExpressHR, but I got a backpay check for everything from the starting date until the new pay rate took over. As long as your management has submitted it, you're going to get backpay.

Yep. And they wonder why they can't get any good backups.
