Is a supervisor position hourly or salary? Union or non Union? Curious because my supervisor just told us he's thinking about quitting. If it goes by senority, I'm first in line. Just curious in case for some reason it does happen I know. Most of our crew are new so it all depends on if they pull someone from our crew for it or ask someone with more senority with experience in ours from a different department/store.
Salaried non union. ----And decide for yourself whether or not to go for salaried management. Sure, you put in a lot of work----but you're working towards a solid future you can go in any number of directions with.
That's why I was asking. Hourly you're usually able to keep a schedule sometimes over, but salary no really worked on a schedule. Management I know is salaried. I think you think I mean department manager That's not what I was talking about. Supervisor works with crew just in charge and decides who to schedule.

Are you talking about the Night Manager job aka Grocery Backup then? Because we don't have a position at our store called "Grocery Supervisor" but I can tell you neither of our grocery manager jobs are salaried.
Now that I looked it has them titled Departnent Head on the website so it would be hourly. Everyone says his title was supervisor so that was what had me.
Grocery manager is an hourly position... our grocery manager is always working at least 6 days a week, they would not be able to make that a salary position because none of them would ever agree to it.

I am a Grocery Manager. I would agree to a salaried position but it would have to be based on a pay of 60hrs a week with my base pay plus 20 hours of OT pay, and I know they're not going to do that. I don't mind working those 50 hour weeks either, biggest issue I have is not being able to work long enough to get things done because of OT/hours concerns. I get throttled in the mid 40's most weeks. I still do many 10-12 hour days and have done longer. Again, not a concern as much as being limited on how often I can do this due to ELMS/hours/no OT hounding. I'd love to be able to get a six day week here and there but there's no way to do it with hour constraints. My OT pay considering the work I do is very good. Before the company cracked down on hours/OT this year, I was getting away with 60-70 hour weeks here and there and I might be the only person on this board who loved it... Highest I've ever done was 76 during a Thanksgiving Week where we were down several people. Just ate me turkey a week later when I cashed my paycheck.
Knock the long hours all you want, but with my investments over the years if I do this job another 5-10 years (or less), I'll be retired by 40 and will never have to work another day in my life. So the more I can get today, the quicker I can get out down the road. Not going to be one of these 30 year lifers that have bad knees and backs and are disillusioned to the core.
